Two cops, labourer charged with shooting of trader
KUANTAN: Two policemen and a labourer face the prospect of the death sentence after they were charged in the magistrate's court here with firing at a trader during a robbery, last month.
Constable Muhamad Amin Pauzi, Constable Muhammad Shafiq Sa'ari and Muhamad Nur Subhi Mohd Rakhzam, all aged 25, nodded that they understood after the charge was read out separately to them before Magistrate Nordiana Abd Aziz, here today.
No plea was recorded as the case comes under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Muhamad Nur Subhi was alleged to have fired his gun with the intention to cause death or injury to Leong Tien Fook, 55, at the premises of DU-50, Batu 9, Kuantan, here at 5.30am, last Nov 25.
Muhamad Amin and Muhammad Shafiq were also charged with committing the same offence as they knew their accomplice was carrying a firearm.
They were charged under Section 3 and Section 3A of the Firearms Act (Increased Penalty) 1971, which carries the death sentence upon conviction.
The court set Jan 16, 2018, for re-mention of the case. Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Shahrizzat Amadan appeared for the prosecution. — Bernama
