A seminar on ‘robotics’ was held at Patel Group of Institutions. Expert Abhigyanam from IndEyes Infotech Private Limited was present as the speaker on the occasion.
The seminar was attended by the students of electronics and communications branch. The students were told about various aspects of robotics. He also talked about the increase of need of robotics in every field.
To begin with the seminar expert Abhigyanam talked about the origin of the idea ‘robotics. He said that Robotics is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering and science that includes mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science and others. It derived from the word robot.
“Today we see the need of robotics in every field. Scientists and engineers are continuously working to develop the idea according to contemporary needs,” he added.
He further said that robotics deals with the design, construction, operation, and use of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing.
He further said, “The robotic technologies are used to develop machines that can substitute for humans. Robots can be used in any situation and for any purpose.” Talking about the forms of the robots, he said that robots can take on any form but some are made to resemble humans in appearance. This is said to help in the acceptance of a robot in certain behaviors usually performed by people. Such robots attempt to replicate walking, lifting, speech, cognition and anything a human can do. He said that many of today's robots are inspired by nature, contributing to the field of bio-inspired robotics. The entire seminar was much enjoyed by the students. It was concluded with the questionnaire session wherein the students asked their doubts.
