Jordan Food & Drug Administration signs cooperation agreement with Saudi counterpart

(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, Dec. 12 (Petra)- Jordan Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday penned a cooperation agreement with Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) in technical and vocational fields.

The accord, signed by the FDA Director General, Hayel Obeidat, and the SFDA Executive President, Hisham S. Al-Jadhey, covers reciprocal technical and vocational schemes, along with exchanging information and expertise in the fields of drugs, cosmetics, food safety, and risk analysis.

The deal also urges the two parties to conduct joint research and to forge a technical panel of experts to meet annually to discuss key issues in the relevant domains.

It also aims to launch joint inspection programs and to exchange information on the inspection-driven operations in the two countries.

In a press statement, Obeidat said the agreement eyes to kick off diverse cooperation programs, in a bid to serve mutual interests.

The Saudi official, on his part, hailed this step aimed to bolster exchange of expertise and to boost the food bodies' performance to carry out their tasks effectively.
