CHANDIGARH/GURGAON: Haryana health minister Anil Vij on Monday directed the imposition of prohibitory orders under section 144 (banning assembly of more than four persons) of CrPC in 2km radius of all the civil hospitals in the state to facilitate the patients and to ensure timely treatment for them. The directions were issued by the minister while presiding over meeting of health department.
He said that the government is spending Rs 180 crore per annum on the employees of National Health Mission (NHM) and the maximum demands of the employees have already been fulfilled. He said that a hike of 5% and another hike of 3% have been made in the honorarium of these employees. Apart from this, approval to give a hike of 14.29% in their honorarium has also been given as per 7th Pay Commission.
The minister said that a notice has been issued to NHM employees who were proceeding on strike. As a result of which, maximum employees have joined their duties. He said despite that, the process has been started to terminate the services of those employees who had not yet joined their duties. New recruitment process is also being started to avoid any inconvenience to the patients, Vij added.
Meanwhile, NHM workers in Gurgaon extended their strike indefinitely on Monday. Owing to the shortage of staff, the health department has postponed the immunization drive — intensive mission indradhanush (IMI) — by a week.
The 15 day-long round of IMI was scheduled to commence on December 7. It required 135 NHM workers to vaccinate 628 children and 210 pregnant women. As a result, the deputy director (child health), NHM, issued orders on Friday to postpone this round by a week, which is now scheduled to start from December 15.
