NEW YORK CITY has been rocked by a suspected pipe bomb terror attack explosion at the Port Authority bus terminal today. How safe is it to travel to the city?
New York, USA, has been hit by a potential terror attack after a suspected pipe bomb was detonated at Port Authority bus terminal.
The NYPD tweeted to confirm there are four injuries, one of which is the bomber, as a result of the explosion, although none are life threatening.
They have also confirmed one male suspect has been taken in to custody.
A source told the New York Times the man was a would-be suicide attacker with wires attached to him, carrying a pipe bomb and battery pack.

In light of the ongoing situation, the FCO have updated their travel advice for the city.
Writing on the Foreign Office website, they said: "The New York City Police Department (NYPD) are responding to an explosion at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, 42nd Street and 8th Ave, Manhattan, New York.
"The British Consulate General in New York is in contact with local authorities and urgently seeking further information.
"Following an earlier evacuation, subway trains are currently bypassing Port Authority and Times Square stations. You should expect significant delays and changes in services.

"If you’re in the immediate area you should take care and follow the advice of the local security authorities."
The arrested man has been named by police as Akayed Ullah, 27.
It is thought his device may have malfunctioned and was not supposed to detonate when it did.
Local media reported the man as originally from Bangladesh and there were police raids on a home in Brooklyn following the explosion.

A picture allegedly showed the attacker lying prone on the ground in burnt clothing.
New York police confirmed the explosion had taken place at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue.
Terrified bystanders said there was a stampede as they were evacuated from the area.
