1 - Flash balm

Even before I had children I was always a bit last minute and would end up getting changed in the back of the car before a posh event.

Now that I’m a mum I don’t have the time to do a full face of make-up in the morning and if I manage to brush my hair and put on lipstick I know I’m doing well. However the one thing I never forget is Elemis Flash Balm, which is a radiance primer fortified with vitamins.

I think you’re supposed to mix it with foundation but I put it straight on my skin and it always leaves me looking remarkably fresh and dewy.

2 - My boys

Having my sons has definitely been an adventure so far. Louis was born on the kitchen floor and Ernie is a little tornado – he’s just bursting with energy and enthusiasm.

I never quite know what he’s going to do next but that’s all part of the fun.

3 - Spare keys

I have lost count of the number of times I’ve lost my keys and that is why I always give spare sets to friends and family so I don’t get locked out.

However this plan went a little awry earlier this year when we were living in France for a while. I’m not the brightest spark but this was a particularly low moment even for me.

I was on the beach and I wanted to go paddle-boarding.

In my infinite wisdom I decided to bury my keys in the sand under my flip flops. When I came out of the sea, someone had stolen my shoes and I had no way of knowing where my keys were.

I ended up borrowing a metal detector and spent the next couple of hours scouring the beach for my buried keys.

I never found them and eventually I had to call Richie to come to rescue me.

4 - Wet wipes

I don’t know why but my children seem to be the grubbiest creatures in the world as they are permanently covered in mud and dried banana.

It honestly doesn’t bother me but I always make sure I have a pack of wet wipes with me so I can deal with the constant muck.

They’re a great fix on the run, especially if I’m in a rush. I have discovered that wet wipes are pretty invaluable for me too as they are fantastic for removing make-up and for cleaning up my frequent spills.

5 - A camera

I know everyone likes to click away on their mobile phones these days but I prefer a camera and proper photographs.

At home I have boxes of old pictures tucked away, many of them dating back to my childhood. When I look back at them I rediscover so many wonderful memories.

In the past I have been a bit lazy about taking photos and it makes me sad that I don’t have any shots from large chunks of my life. That’s why since having the boys I’ve always carried a camera so I can recall every precious, mucky moment.
