PFP calls for police action against Zaid

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Front Party (PFP) is calling on the police to immediately investigate and take action against DAP member Datuk Zaid Ibrahim over his alleged insulting tweets on Dec 5 over comments made by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

PFP chairman, Datuk Patrick Ooi said Zaid's action was not only rude towards the sultan but also an affront to the institution of royal rulers.

"As a politician and lawyer, he (Zaid) should not have made such remarks as it was against the Rukun Negara, and we as Malaysians cannot compromise with his action," he told reporters after lodging a report at the northeast district police headquarters, here.

Also making a police report against Zaid's action was PFP Youth chief, Liew Ee Jin.

Ooi said Zaid's action could cause tension and hatred among the people, besides being seditious.

Zaid had tweeted that the Selangor Sultan should be careful with his words and that "no one is immune when the country burns" after the ruler had criticised Dr Mahathir Mohamad over the former prime minister's alleged offending remarks on the Bugis community.

Zaid also tweeted: "When some rulers play politics, they must know the consequences. Don't think there's no price for partisanship." — Bernama
