Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today congratulated Rahul Gandhi on becoming the Congress president-elect, saying his elevation would help the Congress re-emerge as the country's leading political party.

Amarinder said the massive response Rahul has been getting in Gujarat, where he has campaigned aggressively, endorses the fact that he is the best choice to lead the party in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
His modern outlook, his ability to carry with him party leaders and members across ranks and cadres, his grass-root connect with the people would all combine to lead the Congress to victory in the Lok Sabha, said the 75-year-old chief minister.
