Illicit liquor worth Rs 2 cr bound for Gujarat seized in Raj

Illicit worth nearly Rs two crore, bound for Gujarat, was today seized from two trucks in Rajasthan's Dholpur district, police said.

As many as 2,500 cartons were recovered from the trucks on the Agra-national highway in Mania area of Dholpur by the police on a tip-off, they said.


Preliminary investigation has revealed that the cartons were loaded in and and were to be delivered in Gujarat, where Assembly elections are underway, police said.

Driver of the truck Sunil Sharma, was arrested, while his aide managed to flee, Superintendent of Police, Dholpur, Rajesh Singh said.

In a separate incident in Sikar district, 45 cartons of illicit were recovered from a car, police said.

The car and the were seized, they said.

The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot, a police officer said.
