SASARAM: Five jawans, including three Special Auxiliary Police personnel, and mining inspector Dharamvir Singh were injured in an attack by the stone mafia in Rohtas district on Monday.
The miscerants also managed to free a seized stone-laden tractor at Amara Talab under the Mufassil police station area.
Sasaram DSP Alok Ranjan said raids were on to nab the miscreants. The injured have been admitted to the sadar hospital. "An FIR against unknown person has been lodged by the mining inspector," said the DSP.
In the last three years, at least 24 such incidents of attack by the stone mafia have been reported and FIRs lodged in different parts of the district.
Police sources said the mining inspector along with armed jawans had caught two tractors carrying stones near Amara Talab. Ten-twelve motorcycle-borne men attacked the government team with traditional weapons and stones while it was on the way to the police station with the seized vehicles. However, the force managed to bring one of the tractors to the police station.
