CHANDIGARH: The chapter six of Chandigarh Senior Citizens Association organised its Annual Awards Ceremony at the auditorium of Guru Nanak Public School in Sector 36 where senior citizen achievers in different fields were honoured with the Life Time Achievement Award.
Harold Carver, director principal, St Stephen's Schools, G S Channi, noted theatre personality, Harjinder Kaur, former Mayor and social activists and Varinder Mehaniratta celebrated writer were honoured with the awards. They were were presented with a shawl and a memento. Roy De Silva received the award on behalf of Carver while Channi could not come.
Chapter President, SS Lamba presided over the function and thanked the awardees for enlightening the generations with their excellence. He also demand for a separate ministry for senior citizens .
The award ceremony was followed by a cultural programme. Mother-daughter duo of Ramanjit Kaur and Sahibnoor enthralled the audience with their duet, 'Tumko Piya Dil Diya,' followed by S Bedi who sang 'Bajra da Sitta.' Surjit Singh too entertained.
