The stretch of Interstate 94 that was closed earlier Monday to enable Michigan State Police troopers to search for evidence from a Dec. 7th shooting has reopened, officials said.
Officials said earlier this morning that the agency was closing westbound I-94 between Conner and Gratiot at 11 a.m. to sweep for evidence.
Michigan State Police also planned to close westbound I-96 between Livernois and the Davison after the sweep of I-94 but said they are not closing I-96 because of safety factors.
Officials said investigators are looking for evidence from the Dec. 7th shootings and want to conduct the sweeps before snow plow trucks are on the road. Officials on Monday did not disclose if they recovered any shell casings or further evidence.
They also said there have been no additional shootings on Detroit's freeways since the Dec. 7th.
Officials over the weekend said they believe four shootings on Detroit’s freeway system are linked to the same suspect or suspects.
Michigan State Police officials also believe the suspect in the shootings was driving a gray or silver sedan in two of the three incidents.
Anyone with information about the shootings should call the Michigan State Police at (313) 237-2450.
