BHAGALPUR: The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JNMCH) alumni based in foreign countries have offered their services to the patients of Bihar through telemedicine facilities.

The offer came in response to a call made by JNMCH principal Dr Arjun Kumar Singh. Addressing the concluding session of the JNMCH alumni meet on Sunday, Dr Singh had asked the foreign-based college alumni to join their parent medical college to provide quality health services to the patients of the region.

Referring to the upcoming superspecialty hospital under the JNMCH at Barari in Bhagalpur, Dr Singh had said, "We require superspecialist doctors to serve the humanity better and what can be more gratifying than the fact that the needy patients of the region are being served by JNMCH alumni."

JNMCH Old Boys' Association's international president Dr Rajiv Ranjan Das, responding to the principal's suggestion, said, "We can serve better through telemedicine facilities if such facilities are developed at JNMCH."

Telemedicine is a way of delivering clinical healthcare to patients at a distance by using telecommunication and information technology.

The overseas doctors had gathered in Bhagalpur to attend the alumni meet organized by the Old Boys' Association and the 47th foundation day celebrations of the JNMCH.
