CHANDIGARH: The police arrested a rickshaw puller for allegedly kidnapping three children from Khuda Lahora bridge on Saturday evening.
Shadi Lal, station house officer, Sarangpur, said the accused has been identified as Munna, a resident of Dhanas. The three children, including a girl, in the age group of 5 to 7 years were going for their tuition classes when the accused offered them a lift. Mantu, father of two of the children, alleged the accused turned his rickshaw in the wrong direction and despite repeated requests of the children, did not stop. The children raised the alarm and after hearing their screams, passers-by chased Munna and caught him. They alleged he was drunk. He was later handed over to the police.
Police registered a case under Sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A local court remanded him in 14-day judicial custody.
