Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha on Sunday condemned the alleged molestation of Bollywood actress Zaira Wasim by a co-passenger on board a Delhi-Mumbai flight.

The Minister has assured a fair enquiry into the matter and suggested that the actress should get an FIR registered first so that the process of investigation could be started by the competent authorities.

"This (incident) is very unfortunate and disturbing. The way she has been molested as she claims leaves everyone in pain. She should do two things now. First, she should lodge an FIR and we all know that there are enough provisions in the IPC under which such cases can be registered.

“The police will certainly take action under appropriate provisions against the alleged  molester in the case,” said Sinha on Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi on his way to Delhi Sunday evening. He added that the airline must conduct an enquiry so that the passenger involved in molestation should be put under no fly list and the actress should assist the authorities . He said that he was sure of a fair enquiry into the matter. Meanwhile,  the Mumbai Police have recorded her statement and filed a case against the alleged accused.

Notably, the 17-year-old actress through an Instagram post alleged that a passenger sitting right behind her in an Air Vistara flight rubbed his foot against her back and neck while she was taking a nap during the journey.
