After the Maoists’ PLGA Week passed off peacefully without any untoward incident, the Red rebels again made their presence felt in the extremists-infested Malkangiri district by slitting the throat of a person at Nuatekpadar village under Ralegada panchayat in the cutoff Chitrakonda region on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Sitaram Khila.
Sources said that 15 to 20 armed Red rebels barged into the village, abducted Sitaram from his house at around 10 pm on Saturday night and later killed him in front of other villagers on Sunday.
It was suspected that the Maoists killed Sitaram suspecting him to be a police informer. However, unlike in most of the earlier cases, the ultras this time did not leave behind any poster stating the reason for killing the villager.
But police denied that Sitaram was a police informer.
