The Sharad Yadav-led rebel JD(U) faction, which is to hold a convention after December 18, will shortly move the Election Commission (EC) to be recognised as a new party.
The Election Commission (EC) had recognised the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar-led faction as the real JD(U) and accepted its claim over the poll symbol ‘arrow’.
Former JD(U) general secretary and close aide of Yadav, Arun Kumar Shrivastav, said they will file an application for being recognized as a new Party with the EC in a day or two and hold a convention after the results of the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh polls were announced on December 18.
Among the names the new party will seek for itself in its application to the EC are Samajwadi Janata Dal and Loktantrik Janata Dal. The Yadav faction had earlier announced that it will form a new party after the Gujarat polls.
