BELAGAVI: It was a wedding that ‘made a difference’, especially for the orphan children living with HIV. Thanks to Gajanan Mane and Snehal Dhavare who got married on the premises of Mahesh Foundation Care Home, Ashakiran, making the children their special guests at the wedding, in Belagavi on Sunday.
Mane and Snehal’s marriage was fixed by their family members but both decided to organise their marriage ceremony at the orphanage and their best option was Ashakiran.
It was a relative of Mane who introduced him to Mahesh Foundation. While speaking to Snehal, Mane discussed about Ashakiran.Snehal said that she too had read about the foundation in newspapers and hoped that their marriage could be organised there. This gave birth to the idea of conducting marriage ceremony on the Ashakiran premises.
It sounded simple but it was difficult to execute. Both family members of Mane and Snehal were not in favour to the idea. It took a a lot of time for the duo to convince their respective parents.
Later, Mane took permission from the foundation authorities about a week ago and they immediately agreed.
Mane and his friends made the arrangements of the wedding ceremony for which they decorated the premises of Ashakiran.New dresses were stitched for all the kids of the orphanage. Due to certain restrictions, only about 100 people, relatives and well-wishers of Mane and Snehal, attended the ceremony. Mahesh Jadhav, founder of Mahesh Foundation, and his wife Madhu performed the ‘Kanyadaan’ ritual.
