Man Utd vs Man City: Pep Guardiola bites back at Jose Mourinho - we play HONEST football

PEP GUARDIOLA had no time for Jose Mourinho’s excuses following Manchester City’s 2-1 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Manchester City secured a 2-1 win over Manchester United thanks to goals from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi.

The Premier League leaders extended their advantage at the top of the table to 11 points with a dominant display at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho was quick to blame referee Michael Oliver for the result, claiming United were denied a clear-cut penalty.

But Pep Guardiola did not want to hear Mourinho’s excuses at the full-time whistle and instead praised his side’s “honest” display.

"Last season it was the same – we won here and it was the referee. Today as well,” Guardiola said.

“Yesterday he spoke about the referee.

“We are an honest team. We had 75 per cent ball possession, which means we wanted to play.

“We came here and did that."

Mourinho also suggested City got the rub of the green in terms of decisions, claiming their players go down too easily.

But Guardiola was quick to shut the United boss down and added: "It’s not true that my players go down easily.

“That is not an argument I believe."
