Snowfall has already disrupted many airports today including Birmingham Airport as flights are suspended due to severe weather warnings.
Due to the severe weather, as up to 10cm is expected to build up quite widely, with 15-20cm in some spots, lines have been disrupted with many cancellations and delays.
Here are some closures in the region:
- Birmingham Airport - Passengers have been advised to check birminghamairport.co.uk for updates or contact their airline for further information.
- M1 northbound stopped between junction 16 and junction 17 due to "numerous breakdowns/collisions".
- M40 outside Warwick closed due to a multiple vehicle collision between junction 15 and Junction 16. Expected to reopen once ploughed.
- A417 in Gloucestershire closed in both directions between the A429 and A436 due to "multiple separate collisions".
- A458 in Shropshire closed in both directions between the Welsh border and the A5 near Shrewsbury while police deal with a serious collision.
- London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street cancellations will affect fans travelling to Old Trafford ahead of the Merseyside Derby and Manchester Derby.

Other flight departures and arrivals are expected to cause delays and cancellations at London Luton Airport.
East Midlands Airport is facing chaos as the runway will remain closed until midday today.
A further inspection will take place and a number of outbound/inbound flights have been delayed.
The airport has urged flyers to check with their airlines before travelling for further updates.

Departures at Cardiff Airport are also delayed.
Meanwhile on trains, Chiltern Railways between London Marylebone and Amersham, Aylesbury Vale Parkway, Aylesbury, Birmingham New Street will be disrupted due to heavy snow.
Commuters will be entitled to compensation if they experience any delay in completing their journeys.
The weather will also affect South Western Railway services today as high winds and snow are forecasted until 4pm.
Big freeze blasts Britain

And lines on the London Underground have already announced they will expect utter chaos today on Transport for London.
Services between Camden Town to High Barnet/Edgware are delayed due to faulty trains at East Finchley and Colindale on the Northern Line.
There are no services between Acton to Uxbridge on the Piccadilly Line due to power supply problems caused by snow.
And no services will run from Wembley Park to Amersham, Chesham, Watford and Uxbridge on the Metropolitan Line, planned engineering work will take place between Wembley Park to Aldgate.

The Central Line which runs through the main parts of the capital are also facing delays.
Commuters will face travel hell as no services are running between North Acton to West Ruislip due to power supply problems caused by the snow.
Severe delays on the rest of the line are expected, London Underground tickets will be accepted on local bus services.
Motorists will face major queues on the M11 due to the snow on both ways between Junction 7 A414 London Road and Junction 6 M25.

One lane is blocked on the M50 with very slow traffic – but this is due to a tree falling on M50 Westbound between Junction A38 The Major and Junction 2 A417.
The M40 is facing a road closure and queuing traffic due to stalled cars on Southbound between Junction 9 A34 Wendlebury Interchange and Junction 8A A418.
On the M4, all lanes have stopped, hazardous driving conditions and queueing traffic due to accident and snow on M4 Eastbound between J17 Stanton Saint Quinton Roundabout and J16 A3102 Spittleborough Roundabout.

M1 horror crash: Pictures from the scene

While on the M5, two lanes are currently closed with queueing traffic due to jackknifed truck on M4 Eastbound at J13 A34. Lanes one and two (of four) are closed.
Two incidents were reported at 2am this morning on the M1 after a car crashed and set on fire, a spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was put out by 2.19am by crews from Stockhill fire station.
The RAC predicted breakdowns to rocket 20 per cent to 7,000 tomorrow, with its busiest day since last winter due on Monday.
RAC spokesman Pete Williams said: “Call-outs are expected to soar on Sunday, with Monday seeing the highest number of roadside requests since last winter.”

Severe weather is forecasted for a swathe of North Wales and central England and snow has already fallen on parts of Powys, Hertfordshire and Shropshire.
Significant build-ups have been also reported in Leicestershire, Worcestershire and Bedfordshire.
Met Office forecaster Steven Keate said: "The worst of the snow is currently across parts of Wales and the west and southern Midlands, while there is some snow falling over the home counties as well.
“Steady snow is expected as this weather system moves over the next few hours into the afternoon roughly from mid-Wales to the north of London.
"There's going to a split from the M4 corridor south, where it will mostly be rain, although the winds are really picking up there as well with gusts up to 60mph in some places in the south.”
The amber alert is accompanied by a yellow warning of wind for parts of eastern England, London and the South East, the South West and Wales that could bring "short-term loss of power and other services" as well as transport disruption.
