DHARAMSALA: Celebrations turned tragic in Jawalmukhi area of Kangra district of Himachal Predesh on Sunday as 20 persons travelling in a carriage vehicle to a marriage ceremony met with a road accident, killing two of them. Eighteen others were injured.
The vehicle they were travelling overturned while ascending a curve and a woman was crushed under the vehicle and died on the spot. A seriously injured man died on way to PGI Chandigarh after he was referred to there.
The incident took place on Sunday evening. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital in Nadaun. Many of them were referred to Dr. Rajendera Prasad Medical College at Kangra and PGI Chandigarh.
Police in charge of the area Satish Kumar said that six persons were seriously injured and were undergoing treatment. "The information about the incident has been conveyed to the nearby hospitals and police stations. Local people helped a lot in rescue operations. The victims are from Dodhru village of Jawalamukhi area," he said. The situation of about six patients was critical till the filling of this report.
