Mollie, 30, was recently said to have been caught "canoodling" with AJ, 23, behind-the-scenes on the talent show, despite maintaining that they are not in a romantic partnership.

Ahead of their rocky ride during last night's semi-final, however, he spoke out about reports saying that the pair are dating.

"I'm single," he told The Sun's Fabulous Magazine, before admitting that he may have his eye on someone from the show to kiss under the mistletoe this Christmas.

"There's lots of gorgeous people on the show this year, that's for sure," he teased.

Disaster struck in last night's Strictly Come Dancing live semi-final when Mollie struggled with the notoriously difficult Samba, scoring a measly 24 points from the judges.

The Saturdays' singer was left apologising to AJ, who insisted that she had done him proud.

"That was a nightmare," she groaned. "I'm so sorry. I feel like I've let you down."

"Don't be sorry," he consoled. "You came out there and you worked as hard as you do every single week. You just did it."

Mollie burst into tears later in the show following her second dance, the romantic Waltz, having made a mistake in the middle of the routine.

She came under fire from the BBC panel for her posture in hold as well as the error, but ended up being awarded eights across the board, making it her highest scoring performance to date.

"It's just the nerves are completely getting to me," she confessed to host Claudia Winkleman, 45. "I feel like it's just crumbling away in front of me."

Meanwhile, Tess Daly, 48, was slammed by fans for "pushing" Mollie and AJ as she quipped about their alleged romance.
