Hubballi witnesses amalgamation of cultures at Japanotsava

HUBBALLI: BVB campus on Saturday witnessed the amalgamation of the cultures of India, particularly Karnataka, and Japan.

At Japanotsava, organized by KLE Technological University, hordes of future engineers were stunned when 'Japanese Kannadiga' Kazumasa Kuboki presented the song 'Huttidare Kannada naadal huttabeku'.

Soon after the inauguration, when anchor Vishal Patil announced in Japanese language, which was translated by his co-anchor Sahana in English, everyone was surprised to know that Kuboki, head, Japan desk, JCSS Consulting Pvt Ltd, has been residing in Bengaluru from the last 15 years.


Kuboki started the gala with 'Ide naadu, ide bhaashe...' a song from the movie 'Thirugu Baana' (1983) and went on singing 'Prema Chandrama' (Yajaman, 2000), 'Elliruve manava kaaduva' (Bayalu Daari, 1977). When he started 'Huttidare Kannada naadal huttabeku' (Akasmika, 1993), there were loud cheers throughout the song.


Prof B L Desai, registrarof the varsity, said the event has been organized for the first time in Hubballi to sensitise the students on Japanese work culture. "It will help us build network with our alumni working in Japan and their juniors in the varsity," he added.


G S Ananthapadmanabhan, director, SNRC, G S Mahagaonkar, founder president of Shivarudra Trust, Bengaluru and others were present.
