Hasini rape and murder case: Accused Dashwanth remanded to judicial custody

Dashwanth was arrested on December 6 in Mumbai but escaped from police custody the very next day.

CHENNAI: A 22-year old man, nabbed from Mumbai on the charge of killing his mother recently and raping and murdering a seven year old girl early this year, was brought here and remanded to judicial custody today.

Dashwanth was produced before a magistrate who remanded him to judicial custody. He was later lodged in the Puzhal Central Prison, police said.

A Tamil Nadu police special team brought the accused here from Mumbai last night.

He was arrested on December 6 in Mumbai but escaped from police custody the very next day.

Dashwant was nabbed again in a joint operation with the Maharashtra police on December 8.

He was first arrested in February this year for the alleged rape and murder of a seven year old girl and granted bail in September.

On December 2, he allegedly killed his mother Sarala and escaped with her jewellery.
