Ronnie O'Sullivan RETIREMENT: John Virgo sends quit warning to the Rocket

JOHN VIRGO has warned Ronnie O'Sullivan: You won't last forever.

The Rocket, 42, will take on Stephen Maguire in the UK Championship semi-finals this afternoon.

The five-time world champion is still the sport's box office attraction and he is showing no signs of slowing down.

But legend Virgo has told the Rocket that his best days can't keep going on.

He told the Metro: "Ronnie O'Sullivan is the finest player that has ever played the game, he has the charisma and talent to make people watch - but he won't last forever.

"There are a lot of players coming through from China. It won't be long before a world champion comes from China.

"The grass roots of the game is important. A lot of snooker clubs have closed over the past few years.

"We've got to get young people playing a bit more if we're going to keep our hold on the game.

"The prize for the World Championship will soon be £500,000, so that will mean people will take an interest and parents will encourage children to play."

O'Sullivan has hinted he is already planning on what he could do when he calls it a day from snooker.

Asked if he had any interest in appearing on a reality TV, he told BBC Sport: "Definitely. I was watching the jungle [ITV show I'm a Celebrity] and thought: 'Wow, I need to have a go at that.'

"You get a chance to go to Australia, get the family out there for a nice little holiday. I am coming round to the idea of it if the price is right. Count me in.

"Amir Khan has been fantastic. I love him, and Dennis Wise has been great too.

"I get approached all the time to do these shows. I have been too busy playing snooker. A lot of opportunities I have turned down in the past, I would do now.

"I get some freedom from it. In snooker you are told what you can and cannot do."
