HYDERABAD: Issuing a stern warning to the ruling TRS leadership, Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy, during his maiden speech at the Congress Party state headquarters Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, said that the countdown had begun for the downfall of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. He said there was an urgent need to organise another “Telangana movement to free the state from the clutches of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his family.”
“Telangana, which was given by the AICC supremo Sonia Gandhi, has now fallen into the hands of Chief Minister KCR and his family members. We should all work towards unifying all the forces that oppose anti-people’s policies and undemocratic rule of KCR in order to defeat the TRS in the next Assembly polls and make Congress regain power,” Reddy gave a clarion call to the Congress leaders and workers.
The young leader, who had joined the Congress from the TDP recently, formally began actively taking part in the Congress activities from Saturday, the birthday of AICC president Sonia Gandhi. Along with other leaders including Vem Narender Reddy, D Anasuya alias Seethakka, who too shifted their loyalties from the TDP to the Congress, the Kodangal MLA came to Gandhi Bhavan from his residence located at Jubilee Hills followed by a huge procession of followers.
Reddy was given a rousing welcome at the party state headquarters by the Congress seniors like S Jaipal Reddy, TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, V Hanumantha Rao, Sarve Satyanarayana, P Sabitha Indra Reddy and others. While addressing the Congress cadres, Revanth took strong exception to the recent remarks made by IT Minister KT Rama Rao describing the Congress as the biggest enemy to the people of Telangana.
“How could you dub the Congress as enemy to Telangana people? Your father and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s political career began as a youth Congress leader. Sonia Gandhi announced statehood to Telangana by risking Congress’ future in Seemandhra. Only because of her benevolent act, now you people are enjoying power in the state,” the Kodangal MLA said attacking KTR.
Later, all the Congress leaders including TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Dasoju Sravan, Mallu Ravi, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Danam Nagender celebrated the 71st birthday of Sonia Gandhi at Gandhi Bhavan in a grand manner. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who led the celebrations of Sonia’s birthday as “thanksgiving day” for turning 60-year-old dream of Telangana State into a reality, at first, cut a cake.
‘Bringing Congress back to power in TS best return gift to Sonia’
TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the people of Telangana would remain indebted to Sonia Gandhi for the historic decision which was first announced on her birthday in 2009. He said Sonia was moved by the sacrifices made by youth and students for a separate statehood
Uttam said that the formation of Congress government in Telangana after the next general polls would be the best gift to be presented to Sonia Gandhi as a thanksgiving gesture for granting statehood to Telangana
“Every Congress worker has a duty to spread the message of Sonia Gandhi to each and every household in Telangana. We must be more active in exposing the failures of TRS government. We should not allow KCR to continue his misrule and sabotage the dream of Telangana. Sonia Gandhi gave us an invaluable gift in the form of Telangana and bringing Congress to power in 2019 will be best return gift we can give her,” Uttam said
The TPCC chief also accused KCR of shattering the original dream of Telangana. “Instead of initiating the process of development, TRS government took Telangana in a reverse direction. Wrong policies of TRS government pushed Telangana into huge debt crisis. Overall, three-and-a-half year TRS rule proved a nightmare for all sections of the society,” he said
