U.S. President Donald Trump has demanded and received an apology from a Washington Post reporter over a photo of Mr. Trump’s Florida rally on Friday.
Mr. Trump tweeted on Saturday that the journalist, Dave Weigel, had posted a “phony photo” of an empty arena in Pensacola ahead of his rally.
“Packed house, many people unable to get in. Demand apology & retraction from FAKE NEWS WaPo!” he tweeted.
Mr. Weigel apologised within minutes.
“Sure thing — I apologize,” he tweeted. He said he deleted the photo after another reporter “told me I’d gotten it wrong”.
Mr. Trump said in a follow-up tweet that Mr. Weigel should be fired.
