After he came out on bail, he had no money to indulge in betting and other activities. So he had started demanding it from his parents and this resulted in quarrels within the family.
On December 2, during one such duel with his mother, he murdered her in a fit of rage. After that, he wanted to kill his father too, but left the place with jewels fearing arrest.
Even in Mumbai too, he spent his days by taking part in betting. "The police learnt he had spent close to Rs 50,000 during the few days stay in Mumbai and were interrogating him to know how he converted the stolen jewels into money," sources said.
Tashwanth, who was arrested twice in Mumbai as he escaped from the custody once, was brought to Chennai late on Saturday night amid tight security.
