Margao: The Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (GPMCC) on Saturday questioned the silence of the Goa unit of BJP's Mahila Morcha towards inflation and rising crime rate in the state.

Speaking to reporters, GPMCC president Pratima Coutinho along with South Goa Mahila Congress district president Savitri Kavlekar and other office bearers flayed the memorandum submitted by the BJP women's wing to Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar seeking a ban on the controversial movie 'Padmavati' as a publicity stunt to divert attention from real issues.

They condemned the Mahila Morcha for remaining silent on the issue of non-implementation of the 33% reservation for women and the recent para teachers' agitation.

Coutinho also drew attention to the rising prices of essential commodities and electricity tariffs, besides the rising spate of robberies in the state.
