"Apart from observers from other states and special officers, services of around 3,000 personnel would be utilised to conduct the by-election in a free and fair maner. If needed, more officers would also be pressed into service," sources said.

For security, besides 1,500 local police, 20 companies of paramilitary forces would be deployed in the constituency, it is learnt. "272 paramilitary personnel reached Chennai from Bhopal on Saturday and they were immediately sent to RK Nagar," sources added.
