MS Dhoni hit a gritty 65 off 87 balls after India collapsed against Sri Lanka in a spectacular fashion in the first One-day India International (ODI) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) on Sunday.
India folded in for 112 in 38.2 overs. Suranga Lakmal bowled a brilliant spell of fast bowling, 10-4-13-4 to rock the Indian batting which at one point was reeling at 29/7.
Dhoni put up a lone fight and with an eight-wicket 41 runs partnership with Kuldeep Yadav took India past their lowest score of 54 which had also come against Sri Lanka in 2000 at Sharjah. The former India captain later guided the lower order with expertise and once he was out, caught at the cover boundary, Indian innings too came to an end.
Brief Scores: India: 112 all out in 38.2 overs (MS Dhoni 65; Suranga Lakmal 4/13).
