They beat Germany 2-1 in the 2017 edition in an exciting match of hockey at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. India and Germany played an exciting first quarter but could not score a goal until SV Sunil broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when he scored a field goal.
