Couple held with Yaba in Rajshahi

Rajshahi : Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive, arrested a couple with 1,100 Yaba pills from a passenger bus at Belpukur in  Puthia upazila on Sunday morning.

The arrested are Anwar Hossain, 32, and his wife Mahmuda Akter Meem, 19. They hail from Talaimari area in the city.  

Acting on secret information, a team of the elite force searched the luggage of the couple who were travelling in a bus bound for Rajshahi from Chittagong, said Major AM Ashraful Islam of RAB-5.

At one stage of searching, they recovered Yaba pills from the luggage handle.

The couple was arrested for their alleged involvement in drug trade.

Later, they were handed over to Puthia police station.

A case was filed against them with the police station, the Major added.
