Chelsea news LIVE updates: Man Utd hijack, Hazard to Real Madrid, Courtois transfer claim

CHELSEA news is coming thick and fast and Express Sport is on hand to bring you all the latest from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea news LIVE: All the latest from Stamford Bridge.

Friday December 8

Ancelotti’s in town…

22:00: Carlo Ancelotti has put Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham on red alert by moving to London.

Express Sport understands the sacked Bayern Munich coach has sent his personal belongings to London.

Ancelotti has been linked to a host of top jobs, but this week revealed he has rejected the chance to take over as the new coach of Italy as he wants to stay in club football.

Ancelotti has been linked with a return to Chelsea, where he was sacked in 2011, if Antonio Conte leaves this summer.

He could also go to Tottenham if Mauricio Pochettino moves on.

And he is even a potential replacement for Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

Arthur is the new Jesus…

21:00: Barcelona target Arthur is the new Gabriel Jesus, says his manager at Gremio.

Arthur is wanted by a host of clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United.

And Gremio manager Tite says the playmaker has caught the eye like Manchester City star Jesus did before him.

“I always compare him with Gabriel Jesus,” Tite said.

“Because of his speed and how his strength is developing.

"I cannot close the doors to a footballer who, despite his youth, is making big waves in the sport.

“He is a player with great expectations for the future.”

Musonda signs new deal

20:00: Charly Musonda has signed a new contract with Chelsea.

The talented winger, 21, has made six senior appearances for the Blues and scored on his full debut during a 5-1 win over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

After signing the deal, which expires in June 2022, Musonda said: ‘I am very happy and very proud.

“I came here very young and am very happy to continue my journey here. I love this club so it’s a great moment for me and my family. Now I want to establish myself and progress into the team and stay here permanently.”

Madrid prefer Hazard over Sterling

19:00: Real Madrid are pursuing a move for Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne over Manchester City star Raheem Sterling.

That is the view of ESPN FC pundit and former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley.

“He’s playing well, he’s playing well. He’s playing well but if they’re going after people, they’re going after De Bruyne, they’re going after Eden Hazard,” Burley said of Sterling.

“They’re going after people like that, not Raheem Sterling. As good as he’s been for City, there are better players out there in that position.”

Manchester United and Barcelona in pole position…

18:00: Manchester United and Barcelona currently lead the race for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Manchester United spent the summer pursuing Griezmann but, after Atletico were slapped with a transfer ban by FIFA, instead ended up signing Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have been tipped to land the France international as a replacement for the struggling Luis Suarez.

And Sky Sports’ Spanish expert Balague thinks that United and Barcelona currently lead the charge for his signature.

However, things will not be straightforward for the two European giants with Real Madrid and PSG also interested in snapping him up.

“Griezmann will stay at Atletico Madrid in the New Year but Atleti are working on the assumption he is leaving next season,” he said.

“Barcelona, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid want him. I don’t think he has agreed anything with any club yet.

“Atletico have spoken to Barcelona about Griezmann but, again, nothing has been agreed. The destination will be decided by Griezmann and Griezmann alone.

“He is open to all of those possibilities. At this moment in time, I feel Manchester United are Barcelona are ahead of the other suitors.”

Team news

17:00: Midfielder Danny Drinkwater is out of Chelsea's Premier League trip to West Ham after missing three days' training through illness.

Defender David Luiz remains out with a knee injury and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is reluctant to put a timescale on his absence.

The Blues, who have been without Charly Musonda and Kenedy in recent weeks, also have "two or three" undisclosed doubts.

Provisional squad: Courtois, Caballero, Rudiger, Alonso, Fabregas, Kante, Morata, Hazard, Pedro, Bakayoko, Moses, Kenedy, Zappacosta, Willian, Batshuayi, Cahill, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Clarke-Salter, Sterling, Eduardo, Ampadu.

Luiz and Drinkwater out

16:00: Antonio Conte will be without David Luiz and Danny Drinkwater for Chelsea's clash with West Ham tomorrow.

"Luiz is out. Danny Drinkwater is out," Conte said.

"He is sick and the third day with a fever. We have to check a couple of situations.

"I have to check the physical condition, after all the games it is normal to check. A player might be tired."

I'm a Celebrity update

15:00: What are Chelsea tweeting about today? I’m a Celebrity, of course.

More specifically their former captain Dennis Wise.

The @ChelseaFC account has just tweeted: “He's out of the jungle, but @denniswise always loved a challenge. We'll look forward to seeing you soon, Dennis!  #ImACeleb.”

How nice. He was voted out last night (in case you didn't know, which of course you did).

Courtois wants Spain return

13:00: Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed his intentions to return to Spain amid uncertainty about his future at Stamford Bridge.

When asked if he is waiting for an offer from Real Madrid before responding to Chelsea’s offer of a new contract, he told Spanish broadcaster La Sexta: “No. I’m calm.

“I’m happy at Chelsea but I just want to wait because now there are many games and I prefer to have my head focused.”

When pressed about his desire to return to La Liga, he added: "Everybody knows that due to my personal situation Spain attracts me.

“If it is not now, it will be in a few years."

£20m Bailey bid

12:00: Chelsea are set to go head-to-head with Barcelona to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey in January, according to reports.

The Sun claim the Blues have run the rule over the 20-year-old on three occasions this season, while also scouting him at former club Genk last year.

The report says Antonio Conte’s side are lining up a £20million bid for the Jamaica Under-23 international but face competition from Barcelona.

However, Chelsea are said to have the upper hand in negotiations, having already held talks with Leverkusen.

United eye Sandro

11:00: Manchester United are ready to hijack Chelsea’s move for Juventus defender Alex Sandro.

The Daily Record report that United will give Mourinho an £80m transfer kitty next month.

And Sandro’s desire to leave Juventus in the new year has perked ears in Manchester.

Chelsea have been monitoring the Brazilian closely and it has been reported this week that they are edging closer to a deal.
