Clash over voting leaves four injured near Sayla

Rajkot: Four persons were injured in clashes between groups over voting in Chorvira village in Sayla taluka of Surendranagar on Saturday. The groups attacked each other with sharp weapons, iron pipes and sticks.


The injured include Jema Sabaliya (40), Shyamji Sabaliya (22) and Mansukh Sabaliya (35) from one group and one unidentified person from other group. All injured are residents of Chorvira village. The incident took place when voting was going on in the village. About half-a-dozen persons from each group attacked each other with sticks, sharp weapon and iron pipes. One of the injured was hit on the head with a sharp weapon


Meanwhile, a group of Congress and BJP workers came to blows in Porbandar fish market area. However, with the intervention of police there was no further escalation of violence and the groups were dispersed. tnn
