VASCO: In a bid to make Vasco city clean, the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has decided to take action against anyone refusing to dispose of garbage to door-to-door collection workers.
MMC chief officer Agnelo Fernandes has issued a notice warning errant residents of withdrawal of no-objection certificates for power and water connections.
The chief officer said, "During a meeting, it was brought to my notice that residents of many colonies are refusing to give garbage to collection staff. Now the question is why this attitude and more importantly, how do they plan to dispose off the garbage."
Fernandes said those refusing to follow the rules are ones who want to avoid paying Rs 40 per month. Fernandes has further suggested that if anyone has any particular grievance or reason, he or she may write to him within seven days, failing which he would be compelled to take action.
