According to VD Dongre, chairman, District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), for the first time in the history of city Lok Adalat, the judges and panellists from high court were present in the district court for mediation. "This was done to save time of the litigants," he said.

The Lok Adalat was organized by DLSA under the aegis of National Authority and Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority to dispose of pending cases and pre-litigation disputes.

Dongre said the turnout was very inspiring and best efforts were taken to provide justice. The panellists included sitting and retired judges, senior advocates, social workers and paralegal volunteers.

DLSA secretary Kunal Jadhav said, "More than 15,000 litigation and 10,000 pre-litigation cases were presented at the Lok Adalat."

Jadhav added that DLSA has set up a total of 63 panels, with 35 in district court, 24 in talukas, 4 in family court, 2 in Debts Recovery Tribunal, 2 in labour court and one in cooperative. Law students were also invited to witness the proceedings and mediation procedure.
