6 Congress workers, 15 others booked for violence in Mallanwala

Ferozepur: Six Congress workers and 15 unidentified persons were on Friday booked for allegedly attacking Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) activists in Mallanwala town of Ferozepur. Earlier, on Thursday night, the police had booked 17 Akali leaders and activists for allegedly attacking Congress supporters.


The Congress workers booked include Satpal Chawla, Angrej Singh, Babbal Sharma, Ajay Sodhi, Pardeep and Hira Kakker.


Meanwhile, the state election commission, on Thursday night ordered transfer of Zira deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and Mallanwala station house officer (SHO) with immediate effect. The transfer orders have come in the wake of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, who demanded immediate action against the officials after poll-related violence against his party members in Mallanwala on December 6.
