Himachal CEO reviews counting arrangements
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pushpendra Rajput on Friday held a meeting through video conferencing with all district electoral officers to review the arrangements for counting of votes for State Assembly on December 18. He said that all officers and officials deployed in counting duties were being given training besides ensuring that all arrangements were made properly before the counting process. Adequate staff had been deployed at all 48 identified centers for counting of all 68 Assembly constituencies, he added. Rajput said there would be complete ban on carrying mobile phones to counting centers.
178 lakh tonnes paddy procured in Punjab
Chandigarh: Punjab Government agencies and private millers have procured total 178,86,796 tonnes of paddy till Friday evening, including 11,797 tonnes procured on Friday only. Spokesperson said that out of total 178 lakh tonnes of procured paddy in all the procurement centers of the State, the Government agencies procured 176,14,720 tonnes (98.5 per cent) till date whereas 2,72,076 tonnes (1.5 per cent) of paddy has been procured by millers.
Cong in habit to humiliate PM: Chhina
Amritsar: Terming the suspension of Mani Shankar Aiyar mere eyewash, BJP senior leader and member of Punjab State executive Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina on Friday said that the Congress party leaders are in the habit to humiliate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his humble background. He said that motor-mouth Congress leader Aiyar has not only insulted PM but all those people of the country who belong to lower strata of society. He said that Aiyar had earlier also passed lewd remarks against top BJP leaders including former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee.
Faridabad MC issues notices to builders
Faridabad: Municipal Corporation, Faridabad, has issued show-cause notices to builders for their failure in depositing outstanding amount of instalments in lieu of Group Housing sites allotted to them in Sarai Kwaza, Sector-41 in 2013. Spokesperson said that as per orders of Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sameer Pal Srow, show-cause notices have been issued to all defaulter builders, who owe about Rs 150 crore of the Corporation, directing them to pay dues within seven days. If they would not comply with directions, allotment of their sites would be cancelled and possession of land would be taken, besides forfeiture of their amount and re-auctioning process of sites.

Inter school national elections quiz on Dec 22
Shimla: The State-level inter-school national elections quiz contest will be held at Bachat Bhawan, Shimla, on December 22 for Class IX to XII students on electoral process. A total of 12 teams from all districts will participate in the quiz contest. Additional Chief Electoral Officer DK Rattan in said that the contest will be conducted in two sessions. He said that he contestants for quiz will be selected from the written test in the first session. Aim of the quiz is to engage young students in the age group 14 to 17 in self-learning exercise about electoral process so as to build aware and informed electorate in near future.

MTPL signs Rs 100-crore MoU with Punjab govt

CDLU invites online applications for PhD
Sirsa: Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa, has invited online applications for admission to PhD programme in biotechnology, business administration, computer science and applications, chemistry, commerce, economics, energy and environmental sciences, English, food science and technology, law, physics, physical education and public administration for the session 2017-18. Chandigarh: Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) has decided to conduct interview or viva-voice of the shortlisted eligible candidates for the post of Social Education and Panchayat Officer, Development and Panchayat Department and Assistant Secretary, Agriculture Marketing Board against advertisement dated December 21, 2017, at Commission Office in Sector-2, Panchkula. Spokesperson said that on the basis of the written examination and scrutiny of documents, the Commission has shortlisted the eligible candidates for interview or viva-voce.
