Gurgaon: The National Health Mission (NHM) workers have defied a government notice asking them to end the strike, which they said would which continue till Monday. Mission director Amneet P Kumar's office is preparing a report and will send it to the CM's cell.
On Thursday night, Kumar issued notices to all NHM workers to resume duties within 24 hours or face termination of their contracts. The notices were served on Friday but the enraged workers burned these outside the office of the chief medical officer, inside General Hospital, Gurgaon.
Sources said that the state government was ready to meet two of their demands. "The demands to increase wages by 3% and framing of service rules will be accepted. The bone of contention is the demand for regularisation, which is under the jurisdiction of the central government," said a health official. However, the workers said they would not end the stir until all demands were met.
