US based GE Appliances on Saturday signed an agreement with the Telangana government to set up its incubator FirstBuild India at the larger hardware incubator planned by the government called the T-Works.

First Build is an incubator for designing, engineering, building, and selling the next generation of major home appliances.

Sujai Karampuri, director, electronics, GE Appliances India said, "FirstBuild India proposes to focus on IoT (internet of Things) and business processes in appliances and manufacturing, and looks to engage with T-Works and the maker community in knowledge sharing, skills development and community driven open-platform innovation".

According to the company, Melanie Cook , chief operating officer, GE Appliances in September this year led a high-level delegation to Hyderabad and discussed the collaboration with T-Works. She highlighted the importance of the maker culture and the synergy in the visions and values of FirstBuild and T-Works.

An invitation was also extended to IT minister K.T. Rama Rao and his team to experience first-hand the capabilities and maker culture at GE Appliance's FirstBuild facility in Louisville, Kentucky USA .
