 Jagan appears before CBI court in illegal assets case

HYDERABAD: Taking a day’s break from his ongoing padayatra in AP, YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy and his close aide and MP Vijay Sai Reddy appeared before the Special CBI Court which was dealing with illegal assets case of Jagan and the discharge petitions filed by Sai Reddy, Jagathi and others. N Srinivasan also appeared before the court in India Cements episode of illegal assets case. After hearing the arguments in discharge petition by Sai Reddy, the court posted the matter to Dec 15 for further hearing. 

During the course of hearing in India Cements episode of Jagan’s assets case, Niranjan Reddy, the counsel for Srinivasan, submitted that the High Court had already held that his client had  not benefited personally in the case. Besides, the then irrigation minister Ponnala Laxmaiah, in his affidavit before the Supreme Court, stated that there was no loss to the state government due to water allocation to India Cements. Even the CBI case registered against Srinivasan was dismissed by the High Court, the counsel said and urged the court to grant relief from his personal appearance in the case and to allow his counsel to appear on his behalf. 

The court posted the matter to Dec 15 to hear the arguments of the Enforcement Directorate. Jagan and other accused in the case stayed throughout the day during the case hearing, and the former left in the evening to continue his padayatra.
