68 films to be screened today at International Film Festival of Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On its second day, the International Film Festival of Kerala will offer 68 films in 14 theatres. Online tickets for most of the films are already booked as people have made their weekend plans. In international competition category Argentinean film ‘Symphony for Ana’ by Ernesto Ardito  and Virna Molina, Semih Kaplanoglu directed Grain will be screened at Tagore theatre. Malayalam films Angamali Diaries and Karutha Joodhan will be shown at Kairali theatre and Tagore theatre respectively.

Brazilian films White Out Black In, South West, Young and Miserable, Kill Me Please are in the country focus category. In the identity and space category films curated by Alessandra Speciale such as Abdullah Mohammad Saad’s ‘Live from Dhaka’ from Bangladesh,  Ala Eddine Slim’s ’The Last of us’ from Tunisia will be screened.

The section features six fiction films which depict the common problem of migration from different vantage points. The films are by new directors who have made great impressions at international film festivals.

Russian Ark by Russkiy Kovcheg in retrospective film, and Our Father, A Season in France, April’s Daughter in contemporary category are hitting the screens on Saturday. Aroodam directed by IV Sasi, Au Hasard Balthazar by Robert Bresson and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro by Kundan Shah are the films in the homage category.

Viewers get the rare opportunity to watch the restored classic ‘Downpour’ by Bahram Beyzai. Kallichellamma, a bold movie directed by P Bhaskaran will be screened at Nila at 6.30 pm. Three and a Half, In the Shadows, Village Rockstars are film in Indian cinema category.
