India Today takes a tour of the state of Gujarat as it goes to polls to capture the mood of the state at this crucial time.

But it seems that residents of Surat aren't interested in the polls. Several small businessmen in the city of diamonds and textiles have shut shop because of the introduction of GST has taken a toll on their businesses.

GST has not spared even the ruling BJP's own supporters. One small businessman, who is also a staunch BJP supporter and RSS pracharak, said that he hopes the BJP learns a lesson in these polls.
