After the whole controversy on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, rumour has it that the final date of the release of the film is out. After endless delays due to fringe elements and unending controversies, seems like makers of Padmavati have zeroed in on a date. And as reported earlier it won't be January 12, 2018 but a February one. According to a report in Box Office India, exhibition source has stated that the overseas distributors have sent a schedule to theatre chains in US/Canada which carries the date to be February 9, 2018.

Regardless of the same, people are still announcing bounties on Bhansali’s head as well as film's lead Deepika Padukone, all in open.On December 9, Bombay High Court had condemned the threats to the film and those attached with it. The division bench of Justices S C Dharmadhikari and Bharti Dangre said,

Here, we have a situation in which a chief minister says he will not allow the film to be released. Tomorrow, people will not be able to convene meetings and express their views.

He further added,

In which other countries are artists and performers threatened? It is distressing to know that a person makes a feature film and several people work tirelessly towards it, but (he) is not able to release the film because of continued threats. What have we come to?

When Legal Era team contacted the PR official of Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the speculated date of release in 2018, the spokesperson has strictly denied the same and stated that these are false rumours and none of them are to be believed. She also said that there has been no decision made yet on the release date as yet.

While Bhansali and Team continue to receive support from Bollywood, we wonder what’s next for Padmavati.
