
Collector reviews toilet construction work

SUNDARGARH:Collector Vineet Bhardwaj reviewed the performance of the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) during a meeting of District Water and Sanitation Committee at district headquarters town.
The house was informed that in 2017-18, a target was set for construction of 1,02,714 individual household latrines (IHHLs) with total expenditure of about `6.05 crore of which 56.32 per cent was achieved. Similarly, 79.38 per cent of the total IHHLs were physically completed, but completion reports were not yet received.
The Collector expressed dissatisfaction over the poor progress of making villages and gram panchayats open defection free (ODF) and instructed the officials of related departments to expedite work and achieve the target soon. The Collector also insisted on spreading awareness involving schoolchildren, anganwadi workers, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and volunteers. He also asked the Junior Engineers, Assistant Engineers, Cluster Coordinators and Block Coordinators to reach out to the people and ensure success of the cleanliness mission.
Among others, Project Director of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) B C Behera, DWSM Executive Engineer R N Naik, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) District Project Coordinator AK Pradhan and Additional District Medical Officer (Public Health) Dr SP Padhi were present.
