APCON-2017: 3-day conference opens

Three-day National Conference of Indian association of Pathologists and microbiologists Bhopal chapter (IAPM) APCON 2017 commenced here on Friday at the Gandhi Medical College, Department of Pathology.

 The grand scientific event appeared in its full fledged prospect on the first day of the conference which plunged up with the grand inaugural ceremony in the auditorium of Gandhi Medical college.

 Chief Guest on the occasion was Manohar Mamtani, Chairman, MP Human Rights Commission, while guest of honour was Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma. On the occasion, Mayor dignified Pathology quoting it as the backbone of medical science in his energetic speech. Mamtani praised the role of pathologists in the field of health and appealed for clean, durable and accessible health facilities for the people.

 After the felicitations, Dr Surdeep Mitra (PGI, Chandigarh) and Dr Anant Vikas (CMC, Vellore) got the award for best oral paper presentation in the last held APCON-2016. Dr VR Khanolkar received the best published paper award. Dr Kavneet Kaur received Lt colonel Dr Rajmohan and Kuntidevi Award. Dr K Aravindan, Dr Anita Bhaduri, Dr Radhika Sriniwasan, Dr Dilip Ramrakhiani and Dr Reena Bhardwaj received ICP fellowship on the day.

 Besides, Dr Ashim Das launched a book ‘Cervical Cytology’ by Dr Pranab Dey. The inauguration ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr Reeni Malik.

 Entire ceremony took place under the efficient support and guidance of Dr UM Sharma, Dr Anurag Benawari, Dr Rajni Chaudhary, Dr Suresh Kumar, Dr Ashish Koshti and Dr Maneesh Sulya. Whole Inaugural ceremony was hosted by Dr Ruchi Tandon and Dr Atul Katariya.

 The scientific section started with some of the immensely congenial sessions for the new pathologists exposed to the society like ‘Career Options after PG’ in which Dr DN Lanjewar (Gujarat Adani Institute of Medicine Sciences, Bhuj Gujrat) along with Dr Anita Borges (SRL, Diagnostics, Mumbai), Dr Bishan Radotra (PGIMER Chandigarh), Col Deepak K Mishra (TMC, Kolkata) and  Dr Rajiv Rao (Mumbai) very efficiently provided significant details on various options for an MD pathologist to pursue and sustain a considerably efficient career in Pathology after Post graduation in the fields of oncopathology, neuropathology and hematopathology.
