Odisha woman athlete Anupama Swain has bagged gold medal for the country in the Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship held in Kerala recently.
Anupama secured top lifting 132.5 kg in squat, 65 kg in bench press and 127.5 kg in deadlift, with an overall of 325 kg in women’s 52 kg category. She also won gold in personal squat and silver in bench press.
Anupama hails from Keonjhar district. A medalist in karate and mixed martial arts is currently working in Odisha Police as the woman constable.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and DGP RP Sharma have congratulated Anupama on winning gold medal in the championship and wished her more successes in her future endeavours.
