Gazette on judges' service rules soon: Anisul

Law Minister Anisul Huq on Friday said the gazette notification on disciplinary rules and code of conduct for the lower court judges likely to be published next week.  
"So far I know the disciplinary rules and code of conduct for the lower court judges have been sent to the President from Prime Minister's Office on Thursday. I hope the gazette notification will be published next week".
The law minister was talking to reporters after attending the 32nd annual conference of Bangladesh Ain Samity at Dhaka University's Science Annex Bhaban.
The law ministry has finalised the disciplinary rules for lower court judges in line with the Article 116 of the Constitution, which allows the President to control their postings, promotions and leaves in consultation with the Supreme Court.
The law ministry on November 30 sent the rules to the Prime Minister Office to forward it to the president for his approval, a source in the law ministry said.
The Supreme Court on December 3 gave time to the government until December 10 to issue a gazette notification on the disciplinary rules and code conduct for the lower court judges.
Replying to a question, the law minister said, "The case for canceling registration of Jamaat-e-Islami as a political party is pending with the High Court"
On May 4, 2017, The Jatiya Sangsad unanimously adopted a private member's resolution, seeking enactment of a law for punishing those involved in distorting the history of the Liberation War and genocide.
