OHRC seeks report on management student suicide

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) on Friday intervened in the recent case of suicide of Taniya Banerjee, a business management student, and asked the deputy commissioner of police (Bhubaneswar) Satyabrata Bhoi to furnish a report on the progress of investigation within three weeks .


The move followed a petition filed by a human rights campaigner, who sought a thorough investigation and adequate compensation to the kin of the deceased.


On November 28, Taniya's body was found hanging in the hostel of DAV School of Business Management, where she was studying Bachelors of Business Administration.
